The AlcoMate AccuCell AL9000 is a fuel cell
blood alcohol meter.
Historically fuel cell breathalyzers have only been used by law enforcement
or for professional uses but thankfully the fuel cell manufacturing process
now costs only a fraction of what it did as recently as two years ago. This
means we can now all afford a blood alcohol meter with fuel cell technology.
Fuel cells are far superior to semiconductor sensors, offering both greater sensitivity and accuracy. They are also able to cope with high volume testing better than semiconductor breathalyzers can. Fuel cells are more specific for alcohol than semiconductors, which can be fooled by chemically similar substances such as ketones.
The AlcoMate AL9000 is a stylish, compact and lightweight blood alcohol meter making it ideal for personal as well as professional use. In fact its the lightest fuel cell breathalyzer on the market at 2.8 ounces including batteries. It is easy to use and has a claimed accuracy of +/- 0.005% BAC across a full detection range of 0-0.4% BAC. Results are delivered in less than 10 seconds after a sample is given through one of the individually wrapped mouthpieces.
One great feature of this breathalyzer is the optional ability to download all test results to a PC to generate a report in Excel. The AL9000 blood alcohol meter costs around $300.
